CALIBRATION STANDARD

±0.1mm Precision, Every Stone

Calibration is the foundation of our service. When a jeweller orders a 4.0mm round blue sapphire, it must fit a 4.0mm setting — not 3.8mm, not 4.3mm.

SHAPES & SIZES

Every Shape Your Designs Require

We cut a comprehensive range of standard shapes as well as fancy and bespoke cuts. All shapes are available as calibrated lots or single pieces, in mixed-step or diamond-cut styles. Custom shapes can be cut to order — including stones cut to fit a specific setting.

Round Brilliant

Our highest-volume cut. Available in brilliant or step cut, polished for maximum light return. Sizes from 0.8mm to 8mm+ across all sapphire and ruby colours.

Oval

Elongated brilliance with excellent light performance. Standard length-to-width ratios from 1.3:1 to 1.5:1; other ratios cut to order.

Cushion

Rounded corners with brilliant faceting. Available in both antique cushion and modified brilliant patterns. Sizes from 0.8mm to 10mm+.

Pear

Teardrop silhouette with precise symmetry — a centre-stone classic. Available in mixed-step and diamond-cut styles.

Marquise

Elongated shape that maximises carat weight appearance. Cut with precise symmetry to avoid the 'bowtie' effect common in poorly cut marquise stones.

Emerald Cut

Step-cut octagon with broad, open facets. Reserved for high-clarity sapphires and rubies — clean, architectural lines.

Radiant

Brilliant faceting in a rectangular outline. Combines the brilliance of a round with the silhouette of an emerald cut.

FANCY & CUSTOM CUTS

Beyond standard shapes

Custom-cut blue sapphires in fancy shapes — star, flower, clover, and cross — arranged on a deep navy velvet surface

For designers and brands who need something distinctive — or a stone cut to fit a specific setting — we cut a range of fancy and bespoke shapes alongside our standard repertoire. Fancy cuts are quoted on a per-piece basis with typical lead times of 4–8 weeks depending on stone, size, and complexity.

Star

Five- or six-point star outline, calibrated to single pieces.

Flower

Five-petal floral outline with symmetrical faceting.

Clover / Lily

Four-petal clover or lily silhouette.

Cross

Symmetrical Latin cross — religious or signature cuts.

Cut-to-Fitting

Stones cut to match a designer's specific mounting or signature outline. Share your setting and we'll quote stone and cutting together.

Other Custom

If you have a sketch or a setting we haven't listed, send it over — we'll let you know what's possible.

QUALITY CONTROL

Our Grading Process

Every stone that leaves Lim Gems Factory has been assessed across four dimensions: colour, clarity, cut quality, and dimensional accuracy. Our grading methodology aligns with internationally recognised LMHC colour grading protocols.

Each piece is individually inspected, precisely measured, and graded for colour by our senior graders before being sorted into its respective lot. We use master stones for comparison grading, ensuring consistency across production batches — typically no more than one grade of variation within a single lot.

Clarity assessment is performed at 10x magnification, with inclusion mapping for stones above 1 carat. Cut quality evaluation includes symmetry, proportions, polish, and brilliance — assessed by our senior graders with decades of experience.

Extra Fine

Top colour saturation, eye-clean at arm's length, excellent cut with no visible windowing. Reserved for the top 10–15% of production.

Fine

Strong colour, minor inclusions visible only at 10x, very good cut proportions. The standard for quality jewellery production. Represents approximately 30–40% of output.

Commercial

Good colour, minor inclusions that may be eye-visible, good cut. Ideal for fashion jewellery and volume production where cost efficiency is important.
